October 2020 Campaign Summary - Free The Girls

Updated: May 14, 2021

Originally summarized on Twitter.

One In An ARMY is extremely proud to announce the results of our October 2020 campaign, Keep Going With Jimin, benefiting Free The Girls in honour of Jimin's birthday!

The theme ARMY chose for Jimin's birthday was anti-violence and anti-abuse.

Free The Girls help women rescued from sex trafficking reintegrate into their communities. They help women regain independence and self-sufficiency by collecting new and gently used bras and sending them to their program partners in Mozambique, El Salvador, and Costa, where formerly trafficked women start their own business selling the bras at local markets.

In 5 days, 948 ARMY in 68 countries raised $21,934! That's enough to supply ALL of the businesses of the survivors they work with in Mozambique and El Salvador for an entire year!

Free The Girls were so impressed with ARMY efforts that they made a map to show the global impact of ARMY support. They said it was the most global fundraiser they'd ever had!

As always, a letter has been sent to Jimin and Big Hit Entertainment to let them know about your incredible effort.

Continuing their journey, BT21 returned for the October Challenge in Journey to ARMYtopia. For this challenge ARMY were asked to use Ecosia and make enough searches to plant 7 trees. Approximately 45 searches are needed to plant 1 tree, but for our game we increased the amount to 4,500 searches to plant 1 tree in the game.

Over the month of October, ARMY reported 37,257 searches on Ecosia which means ARMY raised enough to plant approximately 827 trees around the world!

October also brought us an extra Bonus Mission in the form of Promises Returned; the 1 year follow up of the Bonus Mission from Jimin's 2019 birthday campaign.

Thank you ARMY for helping Free The Girls help women rescued from sex trafficking, and for helping Ecosia in their ongoing journey to a reforested world. You have made a difference!
